Do you live in Bristol or Weston-Super-Mare? If so, you might have spotted some bold new posters brightening our outdoor sites this month, including a takeover of the Bristol Media Wall. WE Rent is a new campaign designed to help people in the West of England understand how new legislation might affect them.
On the 1st May 2026, UK rights for renting changed - but rights only matter if we know about them. The Renters Rights’ Act is a significant policy change that aims to improve housing security for millions. The abolishment of Section 21 evictions, restrictions on bidding wars and fixed term tenancies are all key aspects of the new amendments, making it more difficult for landlords to force tenants to leave or remain in a property against their will.
With over 35% of the population living in rented accommodation, often due to necessity rather than choice, we welcome the introduction of these new laws and are proud to support the WE Rent campaign. For more resources and information about the Renters’ Rights Act and WE Rent, click here.
